What equipment do you need?
Golf may seem an expensive sport to get started,
but most pros will provide clubs for starter lessons
and won’t mind you turning up in training shoes
until you know you want to commit to the game.
Once you take the plunge you will need:
- A set of golf clubs and a golf bag, which again
the pro can help you with, either second hand clubs
or a starter set
- Golf shoes to play on most golf courses, and a
golf glove is always recommended to ensure the best
grip on the golf club
- You may be fit enough to carry your bag; if not
you will need a trolley, which again can be hired
from the pro
- You may start out as a ‘fair weather’
player, but at some point you will need to kit yourself
out with umbrella and waterproofs
and finally you will need a good supply of golf balls
and a variety of accessories:
- Tees of various sizes – to tee the ball
at different heights for different clubs
- Ball marker – to mark the position of your
ball on the green
- Pitch mark repairer – to repair ball marks
on the green
- Scorecard and pencil
