Where to have lessons
The ideal way for beginners to decide whether golf
is their thing is to find a golf club that offers
free ‘taster’ sessions. Then if you get
the bug you will want follow up lessons which can
often be offered as a package of five or six lessons.
Go for a group session to start with as these are
cheaper and you will also meet others of the same
standard and might find a playing partner for the
future. Alternatively you may wish to join a golf
school with more concentrated lessons over a shorter
period.
Yorkshire Golf Academy
All golf clubs partnered with the academy offer a
variety of different classes for beginners and more
experienced players from hourly lessons to half-daily
golf schools over 1, 2 or 5 days.

Free ‘taster’
sessions
Ideal for new-starters, these free one-hour sessions
include a group lesson with a local pro covering the
basics of the game followed by drinks and nibbles
in the clubhouse. A choice of mixed, men’s or
women’s sessions will be advertised regularly.
Follow-up sessions
If you enjoyed the taster session clubs offer regular
follow-up lessons either individually or in groups.
Golf schools
- The 1 day beginners course covers the basics of
the game, the golf swing and golf etiquette.
- The 2 day beginners course covers putting, chipping,
bunkers & golf rules.
- The 5 day beginners course covers all aspects
of the game, including time on the course and will
qualify you for an academy certificate.
- The 1 day advanced course covers a day working
on the short game.
- The 2 day advanced course covers swing training,
chipping, putting & bunker play and course
management.
Yorkshire Golf Academy vouchers
